Tensions flared in Konnagar's Zorapukur area as the local Paura Sabha imposed a ban on entry to the playground, disrupting the routine activities of residents who typically engage in activities like football matches and morning walks. This decision triggered outrage among locals, prompting a protest that saw the blocking of the road connecting GT Road to Konnagar station.

Konnagar Municipality Chairman Swapan Das defended the ban, citing the considerable investment made in constructing the ground and expressing concerns about its maintenance.

"If the ground is not suitable then IFA will not give any match. The people of Konnagar got to see a good game. This is the pride of Konnagar. But some people are getting all this done. There are other grounds in Konnagar apart from Jorapukur grounds, they will not play there." - Konnagar Municipality Chairman Swapan Das.

However, allegations have emerged suggesting ulterior motives behind the ban, including accusations of running coaching centers under the guise of utilizing the grounds, adding layers of complexity to the ongoing controversy.
